Park Days.....& Forgotten Photos

I love summer! It is my favourite time of year...always has been.

The warmth of the sun on my skin, going outside just for the hell of it, park days and let's not forget....summer clothes ;).

Yesterday (Saturday) I decided to not let the day pass me by, even though I had no real plans. So I packed my bag with snacks, juice, water, a picnic blanket, my Fujifilm Finepix Bridge Camera and made my way to the local park...solo.

I wanted some 'me, myself and I' chill out time, so I thought why not bring my camera, just in case?

I love photos and photography. I wouldn't go as far as to say I am an amateur photographer but I do love everything that goes along with it. Photos hold memories for me and I love that a single moment in your life can be captured in a photograph. So I always try to capture the moment.

Unfortunately I haven't been using my bridge camera that much lately (I blame mobile phone technology ;))... this has to change! So whilst I was in the park yesterday I took a few snaps, nothing major... just capturing the moment I was in... 'then and now'. Afterwards I started to flick through the pictures, that were still on my memory card...my forgotten photos. Trips to the museum, Cornwall, My Dad's 60th birthday.... all good memories.

So I thought I would share some of these with you and share the moment...

This or That..... Steak & Lobster

As mentioned previously, I am always on the hunt for new dining experience.

So recently I visited a new restaurant with a few of my gal pals after work.

Steak & Lobster on Warren Street.

Now talk about keeping a name simple and that is exactly what you get from Steak & Lobster. To say the least it is not a complicated menu and both the options are delicious... their tag line is even "This or That".

I went for the 10oz rib eye steak, cooked medium rare (just the way I like) it and it came with garlic and chive butter, with unlimited fries. Both the meals cost a total of £20, which may sound a little bit expensive, but with the unlimited fries and salad, I think this price is worth it.

The steak was delicious (although a little fatty, however this is normal for rib eye) and the fries are to die for.... I had two helping *hides face in shame*.

The restaurant had a great environment and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

I would give Steak & Lobster a big 8/10 and would def recommend it!!

Snapshot Style : Wireless Festival and Dinner

It's been a while since I did a snap shot style... so here is two! :).

Last week was a very busy week for me.

First up I had a good friend's birthday... swanky dinner and drinks at the The Anthologist Bar in EC London.

Smart casual was the look I was going for as I didn't want to be too over dressed for a Friday drink up.

Primark Dress
Primark Chunky Necklace
Sandals ~ (Not seen) New Look Gold Chain Gladiator Sandals
Jacket (Just seen) ~ H&M

Next up... who doesn't love festival chic?

Also last weekend I got to celebrate my last birthday gift, which was tickets to Wireless festival with my big sister. I loved it and had so much fun!

Now as usual the weather in London was unpredictable... was it going to be cold, raining, sunny or warm? Who knew! And on the day we experienced a variety of weather.

So I had to cater to all the elements:

Hat ~ Topshop
Top ~ Miss Selfridge
Shorts ~ H&M
Socks ~ Primark
Wellies ~ Hunters
Raincoat (Just Seen) ~ Asos
Bag ~ Yildiz & I

So guys.... What do you think? Did I do a good job?

Food Glorious Food: Jamie's Diner

Something new from me, my fashionistas :).

I have always been a big lover of food and dining out is one of my favourite things to do. I would even go as far as saying it is one of my hobbies.

I have been toying with the idea to start a food blog for a while.... but then I thought, what the hell (!), let me incorporate it into my fashion blog.

All the things I love under one blogging roof :).

So my first food post goes to Jamie's Diner (23 Shaftesbury Ave, London W1D 7EE).

This new restaurant has popped up on Shaftesbury Avenue (for a limited time only!) and as I am a big lover of Jamie Oliver's cooking... I decided to give it a go.

This restaurant can only be described as a typical diner - with a twist. I know what you are thinking "not another American style restaurant popping up". But this is different....
With the laid back ease and friendly atmosphere of your typical diner teamed with genuinely delicious food.

The twist part comes in to the actual food its self. The meal I went for was a beef hotdog with mac and cheese on the side. The mac and cheese came with a generous helping of cajun popcorn, adding a surprisingly spicy kick to my amazing side dish. The mac and cheese alone was very tasty but the popcorn gave it a special twist! I can also safely say that the hotdog tasted great and was just the right sized portion for little old me.

The restaurant also offers the usual favourites, such as burgers, steak, ribs and much much more.

Finally even if you are not a fan of this type of food, I would go there just for the atmosphere. The staff gave great customer service and the diner it self is kitted out by the artist Jay Jay Burridge. With lots of dinosaurs dotted around and an amazing ceiling to gaze at whilst you are eating.

I would definitely recommend getting down to Jamie's Dinner before it moves on. It is one of those diners that doesn't come along very often.

If you are a lover of Jamie Oliver's food like I am... then you would give it a 10/10. :)

Weddings Galore...

Till Death Do Us Part....

It's that time of year (and in my life, apparently) when everyone begins to tie the knot and this year I have weddings coming out of my ears!

I love it.

The celebration of love... the dresses... the flowers.... the cake. What's not to love?

I have just been to my 2nd wedding of the year and I still have two more to go.
I would like to believe that I am starting to get into the habit of dressing for weddings...hopefully. Because in the beginning I was having a nightmare.

What does one wear to a wedding? I want to look smart and sophisticated without looking like I am on my way to work, however I want to make an effort without going over the top....

It was hard.

For the first wedding I went to... I got lucky. The bride had provided her wedding party with material to wear (An African wedding). So all I had to do was choose a style. I went for a simple long strappy dress, that hugged my figure, showing just enough but being very modest.

I believe in dressing exactly for the type of occasion and as this was a Muslim wedding I did not want to show too much flesh.

The second wedding was a little bit more difficult. I had no guidelines and couldn't find anything I liked :(. Luckily after trolling the shops for weeks I found the perfect dress from ASOS (they have a section dedicated to occasions). It suited me down to a T and I was very happy with it.

Soo...my advice for all you wedding goers is.... Don't over think it. Think about the type of wedding you are going to when choosing an outfit (the family, venue, etc). Stick to your own individual style and for god sake don't upstage the bride ;).

Here are my outfits below...What do you think?

Cake, cake, cake, cake.....

No no.... Not the Rihanna song ;). Actual cake!!

I am a BIG cake lover, always have been always will be. I actually think that my blood is lined with icing. (Thank god I remain slim.... for now)

My fav has to the more traditional homemade chocolate cake (don't forget the homemade chocolate custard on the side). But if I want something a bit more exciting then I would have to choose Red Velvet.

I love it. There is not one occasion that goes by, where cake is not needed!!!

My addiction is fueled by the fact that everyone around me loves cakes just as much as I do. I am truly bless to say that my Mum is an awesome cake baker but so is my best friend.

Today my post is dedicated to my bestie and her amazing cake baking business.... Flour Dust.

My Love of Lipstick

I love lipstick! I admit it, I am obsessed....
This is coming from a girl that never wears much make up. So this is a big deal!

As I get older my love of beauty has grown with my love of fashion. Not as much I might add... but it has still grown.

As a teenage girl, I never went through the phase of experimenting with make up, wearing lots of it or sneaking it on at school. I was never that interested and I always thought it was time consuming and boring lol. But as I entered my 20's and the later half of my 20's I have started to wear make up a bit more....

I started off with baby steps, a little mascara, a little eyeliner on the lower lid and some lip gloss. Then I became a bit bolder and started to wear coloured lip gloss (gasps!!). This is where the obsession began. Slowly but surely I was starting to buy any colour I could lay my hands on, wearing them on a daily basis, to work etc.

Then I thought....why not take it up a notch. Why not buy lipstick?
However my personality never allows me to do things in half and of course I did not buy something as simple as a nude gate way colour.... I went in full force and bought a bright deep shocking red.

I was in love!

The first time I wore it (to a family do) I felt nervous and shy. I felt like everyone was watching me thinking "where is she going with the red red lipstick?". But the moment was complete and  history was made and  dare I say it.....my obsession a part of me.

Now don't get me wrong, I have not done a complete 180 and started wearing lots of make up. I just don't think it suits me. But if I am out on a night out, my staple look is mascara, eyeliner and my beloved lipstick. But now I see the difference. I no longer see myself as dressed up if I do not have a bold colour on my lips and I love it.....

So there you have it..... :).
